Not a nursing home

Assisted living is different

Nursing homes

  • Hospital-like environment
  • Medical focus (treatment, not lifestyle)
  • "Patient" terminology (clinical)
  • Institutional feel
  • Limited family involvement

Golden Hands

  • Home-like, residential setting
  • Lifestyle focus (dignity, community, engagement)
  • "Resident" language (you belong here)
  • Family atmosphere, doctor-led
  • Daily visits — families are part of the day

Why families choose us

Care you can verify, not just believe

01

24/7 supervision

— so you can sleep at night, knowing someone here is awake.

02

A physician team, not a phone number

On-call doctor, weekly visits, and a specialist network when it matters.

03

A licensed psychologist on staff

Private monthly sessions — adjusting is emotional work, and we treat it that way.

04

Care planning before day one

The assessment happens before moving in — the first morning already feels familiar.

05

Days built around the person, not the condition

Card games, music, garden walks, monthly excursions — an actual programme, built around each person.

"Simply put — one of the best decisions I've ever made. I used to worry all the time if my mom had what she needed and if she was lonely. I no longer worry. I'm happy to see her smile and be active every day."

I am an only child that lives out of the country; my father passed away a few years ago and my mom was living alone with domestic help since. About a year ago we started looking at assisted living for my mother — Golden Hands had just opened, and we couldn't have been luckier. We were immediately embraced by the owners, the staff, the property and the approach. Other homes we saw felt very much like a business rather than a home. I asked my mom to choose which home she wanted — hoping very much she would pick Golden Hands — and she did.

Since moving in she has integrated into the community and taken a great liking to both staff and residents. Her mental and physical health has greatly improved — more than I could have imagined — entirely down to the owners and staff. The impact and involvement of the owners cannot be understated; they take care of residents with a passion. In April we were in Sri Lanka for New Year and GH hosted a fantastic event involving the residents and us, including my children. To us, the GH community is family. It's been a life changer.
